Postpartum Doula Care

The postpartum period is a sacred, vital and precious time. In many cultures, it is custom for people who have given birth to cocoon in their rooms, homes and beds, and be tended and fed warm, nourishing foods by close community. There is a deep reverence for the transformation that has and continues to unfold. Within that cocoon, healing, learning and resting is abound. Relationships are forming, evolving, and a new family has been born,

I view my role as your postpartum doula in an expansive, multifaceted way. I am here to support you with the logistical and practical aspects that need tending such as newborn care and education, lactation support, belly binding, sleep (for all), dishes, food prep, and cord care, among others. And, I am also here to witness your transition into parenthood. To hold compassionate and nonjudgemental space for the wide range of emotions that often surface, to nourish you with food, massage, ritual, and to empower your choices as a parent. I listen, watch and notice when you need referrals to specialist care. I am attuned to your needs and the needs of the family ecosystem so that you can focus on bonding with your baby.

Every family has unique needs and desires for what support looks like. Each day that I come, I often will start by sitting with you, hearing how you and your partner (if present) are doing, and then figuring out what would be most helpful and important that day for your family. This may look like:
